Victims' Rights

Article 1, Section 8 of the Nevada Constitution and Chapter 178 of the Nevada Revised Statutes provide for specific rights for victims of crime.  The following links will take you to the Nevada Constitution and the statute related to victims of crime:

The specific right designated in NRS 178.569 that relates to the Nevada Department of Corrections for victims is:

 

v  You have the right to know when the offender is released from prison [upon written request].

 

In addition, the Nevada Department of Corrections has  a statute that specifically relates to the notification of victims regarding the release or escape of an offender.  NRS 209.521 provides for specific instances that a victim is to be notified upon written request.  For the entire statute related to notification of victims, the following link will take you to the specific statute:
