Work and Industry programs are an important part of the daily activities for all
inmates. Inmates
are employed in the usual correctional institution work assignments including
maintenance, food
service, labor crews, janitorial, laundry, law library, and infirmary. Those who
have earned the
privilege of being in level one status are afforded the opportunity to work in
Prison Industries.
At High Desert, approximately 160 inmates are employed in the current prison
industry program
of card sorting. Prison industry is attempting to develop work programs for the
facility.
